Saturn Return

It takes 29.4 years for Saturn to rotate around the sun. Saturn Return means that Saturn is astrologically in the same position as when you were born. In Western astrology, this marks a major shift in people’s lives. When Saturn returns you are supposed to be given signs from the universe that tell you if you’re on the right path or not. It happens from the ages 27–31, 56–60, and 84–90.

I turned 27 in March, and my life is changing. I am moving from Chicago to London and going to grad school for playwriting. My apartment will be different, my friends will be new, and I’ll be in another hemisphere.

So far, everything feels like it’s been building to this, like every year I become closer to doing what I’m meant to do. The visions of my future are coming into focus. 

When I discovered theatre as a child, something clicked. Then I went to college and studied it. After college I came to understand myself better as a woman and a lesbian which spurred me on to write. Then I was in festivals, readings, and produced my own work. I applied for graduate schools and realized that London was the right place for me to go with my passion for history and theatre.

Now, I seem to connect with everyone I've been talking to who is going to Goldsmiths. I feel like I can trust them to be honest and caring with my work.

So, cheers to 27 and welcome back Saturn. I think we’re headed to somewhere great.
